It is the vaccine manufactures who recommend it. Most shots last a lifetime and some last 7 years. It is very damaging to keep giving an animal shots that are doing nothing but setting them up to have problems down the road. It is very harmful and many vets believe it is the reason so many dogs are dying from cancer, have bladder, kidney and skin problems, seizures, etc... Most states have a law that states that the only vaccine required is the rabies vaccine. I believe in building up their immune systems instead of damaging it. See more about all this on my website. Many vets also like breeders to have their puppies on 2 different antibiotics as a preventative, for viruses, etc... This is not a healthy practice as it also lowers their immune system. There are many natural things you can use. I raise non shedding/hypoallergenic small dogs. They are not yippy or yappy and are great with kids. They are smart and easy to train.
